Missouri: Raise The Age!

Missouri is one of the six remaining states that has not “Raised the Age” of adult court jurisdiction to 18. Currently, all 17 year olds in the Show Me State are tried as adults, regardless of the offense.

Legislation in Missouri, HB 274, passed the state House Judiciary Committee on April 11. HB 274 aims to keep these 17 year olds in the juvenile system, where they will face more accountability for their actions, and be given more support for their rehabilitation.

North Carolina: Raise The Age!

North Carolina is the only state in the nation that still prosecutes all 16- and 17-year-olds as adults, regardless of the severity of the crime. When youth end up in adult court, there is limited access to rehabilitative programming, mentoring, counseling, and education.

Take action today to let your state government know that they need to #RaiseTheAge in 2017!
